I remember a Chieftain drops the Ancient Thornrod (and I now discovered I want a good one), but I don’t rermember where or if it was an event. Can someone help me out? If it is an event, would it be possible to re-open it again at this time?

Had to look it up in the database, and you’re right, it drops from a Chieftain, and simply Chieftain.
The bad news is, that you’re also right in that it belongs to an event (I thought as much when I read Ancient, as that usually meant dropping from a Pioneers Week Event NPC (as those are characters from ages past).

I’ll try to contact Sheck to set Pioneers Week up. It should be running anyway from beginning of July… and it wouldn’t hurt if it ran all the way until mid-october.

A word of warning, though: The drop rate is low. One of the specifics of the PW event NPCs is that most of their weaponry is ephemeral (since they’re all ghosts, anyways) and thus doesn’t drop, so the drop rate is lowered by a fair bit.

Did this event start again ?

I have no idea what happens anymore with Aethora. The game developers have abandoned it, except for a few stray “helpers” like me. Let’s hope they don’t abandon it for good.
